As I'm writing this, I am sitting outside on a beautiful summer day...warm and sunny with the scent of fresh-cut grass wafting in the air. I just had an epiphany, how lucky am I that I get to do this, here, in this wonderful place at this exciting time in my life! I'm exploring coaching as my next chapter. Truth be told, I've been coaching people in one way or another for most of my life, I just didn't have the label to put on it.
If I pursue this dream, I would have the opportunity to really focus on helping people see their worth and the possibilities in their lives, a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. If I pursue this dream, I could work from my deck rather than a desk whenever the weather permitted, a perk if ever there was one!
So, back to my personal journey. I've always been a curious person, loving to learn and grow. Over the years, like a lot of people I suppose, I grew too comfortable with my "lot" and, truth be told, a little jaded. Not helping this general malaise was spending several years in a work situation that was unhealthy which took a heavy toll on my self-esteem. I am very lucky to have a wonderfully supportive spouse so I had a refuge but still I brought a lot of my anguish home. Eventually I realized that I needed to move on. It took some time for me to believe in myself enough to put myself back into the job market and look for a new place to land but I did it!. In my search, I deliberately targeted companies that had a reputation for being good to their employees and was very fortunate to find a position that fit me to a T with one of those great companies.
With my work situation taken care of, it was time to focus on my inner well-being! Funny, I've always been good at helping others through difficult and challenging times but not so much with myself. I'll get to that in my next post but want to leave you with a couple of quotes that came my way today that seemed so fitting I am compelled to include them...
"You are the author of your own life story, you can start a new chapter any time you choose" - Oprah
"Possibilities don't have an expiration date" - Deepak Chopra
Until next time, take care of yourselves,
