The Power of Vulnerability TED Talk

Brené Brown's 2010 TEDxHouston talk on the power of vulnerability is one of the most watched talks on TED.com. I had the pleasure of seeing Brené speak twice at the Massachusetts Conference for Women. I love her insights and perspective on life, all gleaned from her years of research on vulnerability, courage, worthiness, and shame. Oh, and she's witty and down-to-earth, so spend some time browsing her site and the 20 minutes to watch the talk, it's worth it! To learn more about Brené, visit her website.

Louise Hay Affirmations

Ok, so I used to think affirmations were kind of kooky but, during a very difficult period in my work life, I read one every day. It really helped to put things in perspective for me!

The Philosophy of Howard Schultz

Howard is the executive chairman of Starbucks. When he was a young boy, Howard's father broke his ankle and could no longer work. Sick pay and disability assistance were luxuries in those days so the family struggled to put food on the table during this time. Howard never forgot this. When he purchased Starbucks, he wanted to improve the way the company dealt with its employees. "We want to provide our people with dignity and self-esteem, so we offer tangible benefits." What a simple yet awesome philosophy!
